Nanuk, a musk ox calf relies on the safety of the herd to protect himself from predators and starvation. One day, he is too curious about the outside world and wants to explore. But after he wanders from the herd, he learns the wild is full of dangers. After the rest of the herd is gone, he is all alone. As he searches for his family, he finds a hunter with a spear.
